Coaster painting previously shown in the “Coaster Show” at Gallery 30 South in Pasadena, CA. This piece is from a series of ‘Smile’ portraits that I’ve been working on for the past couple of years. I’ve been exploring ways to paint the smile and have been fascinated with the subtleties of expression. I’ve been exploring adding and removing elements for re-contextualization that changes the source subject into something often sad, sinister or simply odd.
